Want a real number for your case?

This estimate is a starting point. The actual value depends on facts a calculator can’t see — insurance limits, evidence, and the strength of your claim. Our attorneys will review your case for free and tell you what it’s really worth.

What goes into your settlement

Insurance companies and attorneys across the U.S. generally value injury claims using two buckets of damages. Here’s what moves the number.

Medical expenses

Past and future treatment — ER, surgery, imaging, physical therapy and medication — form the foundation of nearly every claim.

Lost income

Wages you missed during recovery, plus any long-term reduction in your ability to earn a living.

Injury severity & permanence

The “multiplier” for pain and suffering rises with severity — minor injuries land near 1.5–2x, catastrophic ones can reach 5x or higher.

Fault & your state’s rules

If you share blame, most states reduce your recovery by your percentage of fault — and a few bar it entirely past a threshold.

Insurance policy limits

Even a strong case can be capped by the at-fault party’s coverage — which is why uninsured/underinsured coverage matters.

Evidence & representation

Documentation, expert testimony, and skilled negotiation routinely separate a lowball offer from full, fair compensation.

How injury settlements tend to break down nationally

1.5–5xPain & suffering multiplier on medical costs
40–60%Share of moderate–severe awards from non-economic damages
2–3 yrsTypical filing deadline (varies by state)
95%+Of injury claims settle before trial

Questions people ask us

How accurate is this estimate?
It’s a rough, educational ballpark built from common U.S. valuation methods — not a prediction. Real settlements depend on liability disputes, insurance limits, the credibility of your evidence, and negotiation. Two cases with identical bills can settle for very different amounts.
Why does pain & suffering make up so much of the number?
Serious injuries disrupt your life far beyond the bills — lasting pain, lost mobility, and emotional toll. Courts and insurers compensate that through non-economic damages, which in moderate-to-severe cases often make up 40–60% of the total.
What if I was partly at fault?
In most states you can still recover, reduced by your share of fault (called comparative negligence). A handful of states bar recovery past a threshold, and a few use a stricter rule. The tool adjusts for the broad rule your state follows, but only an attorney can assess fault in your specific case.
How long do I have to file a claim?
Most states give you two to three years from the date of injury (the “statute of limitations”), but some are shorter and special rules apply to government claims. Waiting risks losing your right to recover — talk to a lawyer early.
What does it cost to hire A1 Accident Lawyer?
Nothing upfront. We work on contingency — no recovery, no fee. You only pay if we secure compensation for you.

⚠ Important Legal Disclaimers — Please Read

Estimate only — not a promise or guarantee. This tool provides a rough, automated, educational estimate based on generalized formulas used in the U.S. personal injury field. It is not a valuation of your claim, a prediction of any result, or a representation of what you will or may recover. Actual outcomes vary widely and depend on facts unique to your case.

Not legal advice. Nothing in this tool is legal advice, and it should not be relied upon as such. Personal injury law differs from state to state, and only a licensed attorney who reviews the specific facts and evidence of your situation can advise you.

No attorney–client relationship. Using this calculator, or submitting information through it, does not create an attorney–client relationship with A1 Accident Lawyer, Mashney Law, or any of its attorneys. Such a relationship is formed only by a signed written agreement.

State-law variation & deadlines. Fault rules, damage caps, and filing deadlines (statutes of limitations) vary by state and claim type and can bar recovery if missed. The state options here reflect broad categories and may not capture every nuance or recent change in the law.

No confidential information. Please do not share sensitive or confidential details through this tool. Information entered here is used only to generate your on-screen estimate.

Past results do not guarantee future outcomes. Any case results or statistics referenced are illustrative and do not guarantee or predict a similar outcome in your case.

If you have been seriously injured, do not rely on an online estimate — speak with a qualified attorney promptly to protect your rights and any deadlines.
